Common Scriptural Errors !

The following is a list of words or phrases which are very often misquoted or taught as being from the Bible.

When people feel the need to create new words (or words which are not found in the Bible) it usually means that the doctrine that they are trying to describe in not taught in the Bible!

Using the word JEW and ISRAEL interchangeably!

The word ISRAEL represents all 12 tribes (12 Sons of Jacob)

The word Jew represents 2 tribes (Judah and Benjamin who are only two of the sons of Jacob)

The first time the word Jew is used in the scriptures, it says that the Jews are at war with Israel!

II Ki 16:5-6 5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him. 6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day. (KJV)

All of Abraham's seed through Isaac are not Jews, but all Jews are Israelites!

God has promised that even the ten lost tribes of Israel will someday be gathered to their homeland at Jerusalem!

God sent His Son to die on the cross at Calvary!

Calling our ministers "Father" or "Reverend".

Matt 23:9 9 And call no man your father upon the earth:  for one is your Father, which is in heaven. (KJV)

We should call no man of God "Father" and I believe that this also means that we should not refer to any man as "Reverend"!  Indicating a reverence or divinity of an individual is contrary to the teaching of the scriptures.
